Hello, I'm Sophie
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in The Hague, Netherlands.
A few years ago I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the grand plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more daunting than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built SimpleGrovePath
Most online info was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourist content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.
